Fun Drinking Games for Two

drinking games for two

It’s Friday night, and you and your roommate or spouse want to have some fun. Maybe you want to avoid a bar in order to save a little cash, or perhaps you just don’t feel like going anywhere. After all, there’s no reason to leave the comfort of home when you can stay in and enjoy easy drinking games for two.

Most people think beer pong is solely a group game. You might be surprised by how much fun you can have with only one other person! All you need is an eight-foot table, a ping pong ball, 12 red party cups and two beers. Arrange six red cups in a triangle at each end of the table. Fill each cup evenly with the contents of one of the beers. Player One and Player Two each choose their own side of the table. Player One gets two tries to toss the ping pong ball, aiming to land it in one of Player Two’s cups. When the ping pong ball lands in any of the cups, Player Two must consume the beer in said cup, and the cup is removed from the table. Then Player Two gets his or her two turns tossing the ping pong ball. The first player to get the ping pong ball to land in all of the opposing player’s cups is the winner.

If you are handy with a deck of cards, you’re in luck; there are plenty of card drinking games for two. If you don’t feel like thinking too hard (hey, it is Friday night after all!), then go fish is the name of the game. It’s very simple. Using a standard deck of cards, deal seven cards to each of the two players. Place the remaining cards face down in a stack. This is called the pot. The dealer goes second. The first player asks the second player for any particular suit of cards. For example, Player One will say, “Player Two, give me all of your jacks.” Player Two is then obligated to hand over any and all jacks that he or she possesses. If he or she does not have any jacks, then he or she replies, “Go fish.” Player One must then take a drink and select the card that is at the top of the pot. If that card is a jack, then Player One is able to keep that desirable card, and have another turn at asking Player Two for a certain type of card. If the card at the top of the pot is not a jack, then Player One must still keep the card, even though it may be undesirable. It is then Player Two’s turn. The object of the game is to collect a suit of four of a kind, i.e. all four jacks in the deck. The first player to gain a full suit wins.

Beer pong and other drinking games for two people can still be fun without the alcohol. In either of the aforementioned games, simply replace the alcohol with a different beverage.
